came back from my run this morning (made it past stonewall farms on the cheshire rail trail) and noticed the change to the mailbox at my house here in nh. i'm official! and it's also really quaint that they still deliver mail house to house here.it's getting a bit colder here, there might even be the first frost of the season! brrrrr. i'll pass. it's also thursday night football- ravens vs broncos. rocking some purple pride but will be doing some hw tonight and hopefully catching some updates on the game.
but i guess i'm really feeling at home now. well, once i get more than a shelf in the fridge i'll feel really like i live here. but most nights you'll catch me watching jeopardy with my host mom (Peg) and her son (Andy). which is kind of hilarious but it's been almost a seamless transition to living here. although funny story- Peg tells me this morning that she threw out my milk b/c it had gone bad when she tried to have some w/ her cereal. when i tell her i didn't have any milk in the fridge b/c of my lactose intolerance she looks kind of puzzled and then says "i thought it was kind of odd that someone who can't drink milk had a whole gallon of milk." haha. good times.
i even managed to use the oven for the first time today! Peg's got her own garden and her eggplants are coming out like crazy, but no one wants to eat them. so i tried making some eggplant chips.i've come to the decision that i'm really not a fan of eggplant (unless covered in cheese or deep fried like Indian curry. these didn't take much time, but really don't taste like much. maybe they just need to be tossed in spices and then they'll be lively. but just not the crisp/crunch i'm looking for w/o it going black before i can get the crunch.
but at least i've finally tried out the oven. probably won't be fiddling with it again anytime soon :)
That's the only way I can eat eggplants too -- fried and covered w/ some tomato sauce and cheese!
ReplyDeletethe eggplant parm was so good. we dipped in egg, then flavored food processed croutons THEN deep fried them. makes it so tasty w/ sauce and cheese. haha.
Deletewhat about baba ganoush?? use some garlic from that festival :)
