sorry for the lack of updates, internet was just restored at my house...
but, this weekend was full of case study hw fun. haha. celiac disease was pretty interesting but it took up far too much of my weekend relaxation time (beer and chinese food made up for it a bit).
dragged Song to explore a local PYO apples- Maple Lane Farm, which had $1/pound pickings of cortland, mcintosh and one other that i can't remember, but between the two of us, we only had $5 haha. sad grad students. then we found a parking lot for goose pond, which in our flip flops was an interesting short hike (that we only hoped would be a short one and not a terrible mistake!). goose pond looks like a great place for a nice jog. i will have to check the rest of it out later.
today was my first day of official rotations (i'm doing two community rotations simultaneously, but more on the side). i'm at the Zorn Dining Commons which is the Keene State College dining hall. it's a beautiful building, i'll have to take a pic of it for you guys that has almost all natural light and has multiple stations that just look so much nicer than i remember CP. i also get to eat for free, which probably helps in the whole appeal :) my preceptor, the RD for the campus is really nice and she seems really cool and flexible (one of her expectations was "to have fun"). this Thursday is Localvore (pdf menu here), where each station and the theme of the lunch is ingredients from local farmers and producers. i'm so excited to try the food! i think it'll go a lot better than i thought food service would, but i think i'll be getting lost a lot in the walk-in refrigerators!

Is $1 a pound a good price for apple picking? That's something I want to look into doing this year..
ReplyDeleteyeah, when apples are even $1 a pound at the grocery store i get excited. typically more expensive (esp if they have apples like honeycrisp which are usually about $2+ per lb at the grocery store
Deletefree food... always good haha
