enchanted bakery

one more week until thanksgiving! i'm sooooo excited!!!! between trying to eat all the food in the fridge before i head down to md and going to the gym in the morning before work, breakfasts have been pretty uninspiring. it's mostly been oats soaked in soy milk overnight (although cinnamon, cranberries and banana does help!) i decided to treat myself today by finally checking out a bakery i kept driving past on my way to putney co-op.

enchanted bakery is located in chesterfield, nh on the NH-9W side. it's open W-S i think from 6-2 pm. they have breakfast and lunch (although i didn't see a menu anywhere and i didn't think to ask to see one this morning) and lots of baked goods. i met sue (i think she's the "waitress" and the cook (didn't catch her name), bob and wayne (two regulars) as i had my egg and bagel sandwich w/ a huge mug of coffee (total- $6.49). they were so friendly and nice, small towns :) next time i'm trying the french toast! she makes it with croissant! i was eyeing the display case of pastries and settled on a pumpkin donut (75 cents) for the rd.
i was really hoping the donut would be spectacular. it was crusted with a nice outside shell of sugar, but unfortunately the donut was wayyyy too sweet and too wet tasting for my tastes. koffee kup donuts from burlington (which i've only tried bought from the grocery store, so not fresh) are still going to have to be my favorite pumpkin donuts. but enchanted bakery was totally worth it for the welcoming atmosphere and hopefully i'll try their other food and can let you know if the food is worth it too!

still planning thanksgiving menu, my recipe list is as usual, far too long and impossible to prepare for one meal, let alone one day. haha. can't reign myself in, once i get home, i have a feeling it will be a baking/cooking frenzy!
