new home, old friends, explorations

i'm sort of settled at linda's. it's nice to like the people i'm living with :) the closet grocery store worth shopping at is 30 min away in claremont, so that's kind of sad but i stop by on my way home from work and that seems to work pretty well.  linda's house is less than a mile from the beach (picture above) along lake sunapee. can't wait for the summer! clinical is going well. my preceptor is pretty awesome, the DTRs and the kitchen staff are all really nice. kind of spoiling me for real sized hospitals (we have 30 pts not including the ER)
L-R clockwise: fairy godmother cookies (chocolate cookie with reese's pb cups= so good), egg scramble burrito, pastries and sweets on display
lisa left VT :( i figured it was coming b/c work wasn't worth staying here, but it's still sad. our last day together we did some last minute fun (vt country store was of course on the list). we grabbed food at moon dog cafe in chester, vt (they don't have a website). really friendly staff and the place is really cool. lots of vegan and vegetarian options. lisa got the broccoli cheddar soup (more broccoli than cheddar and tasted very indian, still undecided how i feel about that). i got the egg burrito which had cheddar cheese and salsa. yum! we also grabbed a fairy godmother cookie and a slice of banana cake. both of which were amazingly yummy. i'm going to have to figure out the cookie. i think i might have an idea (i'm thinking brownie mix + condensed milk + reese's cups, but that might be too sweet, lol). maybe i'll try it for our ceremony since i think it would hold well in my locker at the hospital.
my route to the hospital involves going through several towns- newbury, newport, claremont, windsor (vt). claremont is probably the largest of those (although windsor has harpoon brewery, so probably trumps. haha). it was a gloomy/cold day friday after work so instead of going for a run i checked out a bit of the town. it's got that old milltown feel. i got a bit creeped out by the guys i walked past who reeked of alcohol at 4pm so didn't spend too much time there...

happy weekend!
