spring in my step

or at least in the air! it's finally starting to feel warm and the sun is coming up! it's been an interesting week. i'm at WIC in Keene and b/c it's so rural everyday we travel to different towns in cheshire county or sullivan county. we usually end up in churches and set up the entire clinic with computer stations (for vouchers), scales (for weighing and Hb tests) and then a section for health interviews. i can't even imagine being a mother at MY age and we had people who were 18 or who had 4 kids. then of course there's the problems with dental caries, smoking, drinking, etc, it's been quite eye-opening.
on thursday, momentum clothing on main street hosted a mardi gras themed fashion show. it's a pretty nice boutique but we were trying to figure out where all the people who buy the clothes wear them b/c we don't see them in keene ;) they had free drinks and food (sushi, yum! dim sum, mini cupcakes, fruit kebabs, bread, artichoke dip and a sausage/shrimp kind of etouffe or something). the food was amazingggg. the fashion show was pretty fun, and the place was packed.

saturday i ran a 5k in bellows falls to support their 8th grade class (Melanie from Kurn Hattin told me about the race), the course wasn't too well-marked but i got a new PR (26:10!). then showered real fast and met up with song and martha to check out the monadnock co-op's one year anniversary celebration. we tried free samples of food and bought some lunch and then got vegan chocolate cake (very dense but very yum). it was "hw" time before getting ready for the night to celebrate Song's bday. we went to Scores. the DJ was awful (all the music was from the 90s and 2000s and these kids were all in elementary school when these songs came out). and i'm afraid to say i'm too old to be watching people bump and grind. i guess it had to happen eventually. hello being 27
we were too late to Scores to get dinner (while watching final four WI vs. KY) so we got food at Local Burger. they didn't have the fish and chips (so sad) so i tried their mac and cheese bites. not too bad, the sauce it came with had a nice spicy kick.

it's been the semi-annual book sale at keene public library and sunday is the $5 a bag day so i got loaded up with some fun books, hope they all fit in my car!

  2. thanks! a couple of diet books i wanted to read up on (jillian michaels, bob harper, beat sugar addiction, etc). got some "smart books" haha which i can't remember the titles and then some terribly boring chick lit which i was disappointed by so i'll be taking those to the book donation at the grocery store!
