this is fall

 took Song and Martha out on a hike today to Pisgah State Park, nh's largest state park. i found this brochure for making a long loop to see the views. pisgah is actually really close to keene (between keene and bratt) and we parked at the kilburn trailhead. from the kilburn trail head we took the pisgah trail to the reservoir trail back to pisgah. the kilburn and pisgah trails were really well marked, but the reservoir trail not so much. but we eventually found our way. the trail is gorgeous forest with cushioned ground, large boulders covered in moss and small roots and rocks.

we got to the vistas last so i suppose we saved the best for last, but it felt like a very long last (we probably didn't hit the first vista until mile 6.5). i don't think i can even describe how absolutely gorgeous it was to crest the mountain and then see this view below us.
